August 24, 2007 It is with a sense of loss that the team at Regent Mental Health Group informs our patients and clients that Dr. Harry Kniaz died from complications of heart surgery on August 23rd, 2007. Dr Kniaz was the most senior member of the clinic, having practiced here for three decades. He was known for leading and transforming the clinic into what it is today. It was through his leadership the clinic developed an expertise in treating patients with the most cutting edge techniques and comprehensive care, especially treatment of children and adolescents. He was an "unsung" hero if there ever was one. Work that he did was for his patients, and not for his own gain. He offered hope, understanding and forgiveness. [Obituary] At the same time that we must inform patients of our loss, we have the good fortune to have had Dr. Sarah Schaettle, M.D. join our team. Dr. Schaettle had known Dr. Kniaz for over 20 years. She was a nurse at Meriter Hospital when they met. Eventually she became the Nurse Manager of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at Meriter Hospital. After this experience in administration she worked at Dean Foundation as a Research Coordinator doing leading research in psychiatry. After attending medical school at the University of Wisconsin, she then left the state to do an additional two years of sub-specialty fellowship training at the University of Iowa in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, where she served as Chief Resident. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Schaettle. Please let our staff or your therapist know so we can assist with your needs. |
